Taipei

Taipei has been the de facto capital of the Republic of China (ROC), commonly known as Taiwan, since the Chinese Civil War in 1949, and the capital of Taiwan since Japanese rule that began in 1895.[1][2] It is situated on the Danshui River, almost at the northern tip of the country, about 25 km southwest of Keelung, which is its port on the Pacific Ocean. Another coastal city, Danshui, is about 20 km northwest at the river's mouth on the Taiwan Strait.

I lived in Wellington Heights as well from 72-73 before we moved closer into town in Tianmu where we lived until 77. We climbed up Dog Head Mountain all the time. So many great memories of that. Including finding the Japanese tunnels from WW2 in the mountain. It was pretty creeping crawling through those in the dark.

Lived in Tienmu from 70-72. Had perfect view of Doghead from the corner of our front yard. My friend and I 'ran away from home' and parents caught us first night camping about half way up the mountain. Dad fell into an open grave inching our way back down the mountain after dark. Never seen him move as fast as he did jumping out of the hole. Never heard him make any other kind of noise as he made when he fell in either.

I lived in Wellington Heights from 1968-1971. Our house had a view of Dog-Head-Mountain from the Backyard. My Dad was with AID in Vietnam and my Mom Ruth and I lived in Taiwan. I am going back to visit over Christmas with my children. So excited to go back.
